Sol Fate - The Immortal
Sol was born nearly 150 years ago as Saleh Faul, an African warrior tribesman. After a defeat from a rival tribe, Faul was sold into slavery and lived most of his natural life on a Georgia plantation as Sol Fate.
The turning point of the American Civil War came with the initiation of the Freedom for Confederate Preservation Act, which promised unconditional emancipation for all salves if males of age enlisted in Negro units. A warrior since birth, Fate excelled on the battlefield and was awarded several medals and commendations. After the war Sol became an officer of the Confederate army who was respected across both rank and racial lines.
Fate's professional successes were overshadowed by his failing personal life. The newly freed, yet still persecuted Negro community looked down on Sol as an Uncle Tom and a tool of the oppressors. Furthermore, the life spent in service to his country left little time for his ailing wife and alienated children. The more others pushed him, the harder he pushed others away. His wife eventually passed, his children left, and Fate, loved by all in uniform yet hated by his own people, was to be no more than a forgotten sentence in a shelved history book.
Advanced in years and poor of health, Fate volunteered to become one of the first humans to be subjected to intravenous infusion of REV materials. The process, which was far from being perfected, enhanced his body but left it in a toxic state. For the rest of his ageless existence, he would need to live in an environmental suit to protect others from his poisonous constitution.
As REVing perfected itself, it created a fear that unending war for possession of these super-weapon resources would bring about endless worldwide conflict. In response, the Humanity Conservation Initiative created an international organization called Pantheon to regulate 100% of the world's REV material. Fate became one of the founding members of Pantheon as well as their first Revolver.
Having lived longer than any other human in history, Fate is the world's most experienced soldier. However, his longevity and macroscopic views on life show his detachment from humanity, ensuring his unpopularity with most people. Dependable, almost to a fault, Sol Fate will complete any contract to the letter without a sense of morality, justice, or opinion.
